Somalia’s Silent Crisis: Combating Violence Against Women and Children

In Somalia today, countless women and children face violence that too often goes unnoticed. Child marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM), displacement, and poverty continue to rob them of safety, education, and dignity.

In March 2025, an 8-year-old girl was discovered living with an older man who claimed to be her husband. She had been missing for months. Her story sparked protests, but sadly, hers is just one of many.
